Dean Lockwood LLB (First Class Hons), BA (Eco.)
Founding Principal
Dean heads the following practice groups: RLR Franchising, RLR India, RLR Privacy, RLR Sport, RLR Technology, RLR Telecoms and RLR Trade Practices.
Dean previously worked as a lawyer at Mallesons and Telstra and as a management consultant at McKinsey & Co. It was in those roles that Dean identified the need for lawyers to change the way they do things and provide legal solutions from the client-back, not the lawyer-out. Rotstein Lockwood Reddy does exactly that.
Dean is recognized across Australia as a leading telecommunications lawyer and advises hundreds of telecommunications businesses including: equipment manufacturers, content providers, software developers, telemarketers, telecommunications resellers, dealers, licensors, licensees, franchisors and franchisees.
Dean also has a passion for India, traveling regularly to India. Dean works with clients in Our Australia India Corridor which include: business process outsourcers, manufacturers, fashion design houses and retailers, professional service firms and Government organisations and departments.
Dean has been interviewed on the leading investigatory journalism program on Australian television 'Four Corners' (in relation to managed investment schemes) and been quoted in the business section of Australia's national newspaper, The Australian (in relation to telecommunications retailers).
In addition to his tertiary qualifications, Dean has completed business training with McKinsey & Co. in North America, where he was taught by some of the world's leading academics, including thought-leaders from Harvard, Insead and Kellogg Universities. Dean describes the learning environment at McKinsey & Co. as akin to trying to drink from an open fire hydrant.
Dean is fluent in English and his Spanish skills are constantly improving on account of his growing South American family (who are improving their own language skills by learning Hindi). To speak with Dean:
