An easier way to .tel your customers!

Individuals and businesses can now register a .tel domain name. Unlike traditional domain names (from which a website can be run) the .tel domain is intended to operate as a name-based ‘navigation system’. This will allow individuals and businesses to store details of non-traditional methods of communication (e.g. instant messaging platforms including Skype and iChat) together with the traditional points of contact (e.g. phone and fax numbers) in a single repository. The .tel domain can achieve this without the need to build, host or manage a website, thus making it easier to ensure that such details remain up-to-date and active.
Registration for the new domain commenced on 3 December 2008 (for eligible registered trade mark owners) and was opened up to the public on 3 February 2009 (at a premium). The final stage of registration commences on 24 March 2009, upon which non-premium registration will become publicly available.
